Planning a Spring Proposal in 30 Days: A Step-by-Step Timeline

2026年4月17日

Spring is a time of renewal and new beginnings, making it the perfect moment to pop the question. With the seasons changing, spring is a time when we start to venture back outside to enjoy longer hours of daylight and the beauty of nature as it blooms back to life. Spring is a great alternative to a holiday season proposal, especially if you want a quieter and more intimate experience.

Proposal planning can feel overwhelming, and while there’s no “right” way to propose, there are some general guidelines you can follow. The final 30 days before your proposal are some of the most important, and we’re sharing a step-by-step timeline of what to do before you propose.

Before The 30 Days: Set Your Intentions and Choose the Ring

It’s hard – but not impossible – to plan a proposal in just 30 days. However, the biggest challenge will be buying an engagement ring. A 30-day timeline means that you’ll likely have to choose a ready-to-ship, instead of a custom engagement ring. Most engagement rings take at least 6 weeks to make if they’re custom-ordered, including if you’re using a pre-designed setting.

If your partner has a specific type of engagement ring in mind, you’ll want to make sure you align your proposal timeline with the shipping or collection window for your chosen engagement ring. Once you have your ring – or know when it’s arriving – you can start the countdown to the big day.

Pro-tip: You’ll find the earliest shipping date displayed at the bottom of each product description on Valley Rose, making it easier to plan your spring proposal.

Days 1–5: Choose the Proposal Location

30 days before your proposal is the perfect time to choose your location. Some places, such as parks and gardens, won’t need to be booked in advance, but if you’re planning to propose in a private venue or a rooftop terrace, then now is the best time to confirm your booking. If you’re considering an outdoor proposal, you’ll want to have a backup plan in mind in case it rains!

Days 5–10: Hire Vendors & Plan the Aesthetic

3 weeks before your proposal is a great time to lock in any last-minute vendors you want to work with. You might hire a private chef to create a custom menu if you’re proposing at home or work with a local florist to decorate your chosen space, whether it’s in your home or your favorite park. If you’re having a photographer, now is also the perfect time to talk about the aesthetics of your proposal, including your preferred style of photos.

Days 11–15: Plan the Proposal Details

Two weeks before your proposal is the perfect time to start working on those finer details. Decide if you want to write a proposal speech and start checking the weather forecast if you’re aiming for a golden hour proposal.

Days 16–20: Confirm Logistics & Contingency Plans

As you get closer to your proposal date, it’s a good idea to start confirming logistics, including any travel plans. This time frame is also when you’ll start getting more accurate weather forecasts, although it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan.

Days 21–30: Final Preparations

The final 10 days are all about the final preparations. Don’t let the nerves get to you! Create a short timing sheet on your phone or in a notebook to work out the logistics of the day, especially if you’re working with vendors. Having a list of when you’ll need to pick things up or arrive at your venue will help you feel in control and make it easier to prepare mentally for your big moment.
